Engaging Games and Activities for Virtual Classroom

Teachers can use these strategies within any type or level of educational setting, from K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and training courses. These activities are designed to help students improve various skills, including literacy skills, mathematical skills, reading comprehension skills, and so on.  The games and lessons have been created for teachers by teachers and other professionals who work with children, such as speech therapists or special education instructors.

Virtual classrooms and blended learning environments are on the rise in education. These teaching methods allow teachers to reach students who don’t fit into a traditional classroom, such as homeschooled children or distance learners. The following games and activities will give your virtual classroom new life!

Fun virtual classroom activities

Technology and education have been intertwined since the invention of the printing press. So as we become more mobile, it’s no surprise that educators are turning to new technologies like virtual classrooms to meet their students with engaging games and activities. With a wide variety of choices for this type of teaching, here is a list of some favorites:

  • The first game we recommend is called “Catch.” In this puzzle game, players have to catch shapes as they fall from the top of the screen. The goal is to match three or more of any shape before it falls off the bottom of the screen by swapping them around. This helps teach pattern recognition skills as well as hand-eye coordination. This could be played with two people on one computer or fifty people at once over Skype! The next game we recommend is called “Boom Beach.”
  • Tic Tac Math (for ages 5-7): This game has players tally numbers as they match them up in two grids. When finished, players reveal how many points they earned by counting the number on both grids and adding them together. The first player who reaches 100 wins.
